Leonard's appeals for parole will be blocked by the parole board until he expresses remorse for his "crimes."  But he committed no crimes!  In response to questioning by William Kunstler, who asked whether "strangers who come into isolated areas on the Pine Ridge Indian reservation who are not known to the people there, might themselves come under attack out of fear . . ?"  FBI Director Clarence Kelley replied "I don't care who it is that comes in!  If they are threatened they have the right to protect themselves!"

Leonard Peltier committed no crimes.  He was protecting himself and innocent women and children against armed attackers on the Jumping Bull land.  A jury in Cedar Rapids had found Bob Robideau and Dino Butler not guilty for exactly that reason.  Leonard never committed a crime!  (That's why we call him "innocent.")

Only, he is honest.  [Today, this seems a serious character flaw.]  How can he express "remorse" for not committing a crime?
